Winter Visitors Activities

The Winter Visitor Committee sponsors a range of events to help visitors make new and lasting friendship while they are calling Del Rio home for the Winter months. Kicking off the Winter Visitor season off the Winter Visitor Committee host a Welcome party the third week of January. The events is provided by local merchants, the Del Rio Chamber of Commerce, the City of Del Rio, local civic organizations and area businesses all welcome our visitors to the area.

Del Rio typically welcomes over 400 visitors from each of the RV travel parks, campers at Lake Amistad, Brackettville and Fort Clark. Many wintering friends have been call Del Rio their winter home for 10,15 and some even 20 years are more to escape the harsh northern winters.

The Christmas Parade and Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony is the best way to start the holiday season. The events takes place the first Saturday of December with the lighted parade beginning on Ogden St., and traveling to Greenwood Park for the lighting of the City of Del Rio Christmas tree.

The Annual Winter Bazaar is held the first Saturday of February.  This is an opportunity for local and out of town vendors along with our crafty Winter Visitors to show and sell their items.  Entry to the bazaar is $2.00 per person and children are free.  To reserve a booth contact the Del Rio Chamber of Commerce, 830-775-3551.  The one day show is from 9:00 am. - 5:30 p.m.

Though the form has changed, the U.S. Border Patrol serves faithfully in the same capacity it has held since 1924. Learn more here.
