Del Rio Council for the Arts: Firehouse Gallery The Del Rio Council for the Arts blends cherished town history with the modern world in fresh new ways. The Del Rio Council for the Arts has called the Firehouse at 120 East Garfield home since 1977. Why the Firehouse? This building actually was Del Rio's original firehouse, city hall, and jail! Now feet dance where firemen slept. Where business leaders conferred, an art gallery is installed. In the former jail stands a pottery studio. The Firehouse is reborn.
The Firehouse Gallery brings to town a variety of touring and local art exhibitions throughout the year. The Upstagers and other groups perform onstage at the historic Paul Poag Theater during the Firehouse Fantastics season. Art classes enrich lives and open imaginations. Hours are Tuesday-Friday 10:00 am-5:00 pm, Saturday 10:00 am-2:00 pm. Guided tours are available. For more information: Del Rio Council for the Arts 120 E.
