Guide
The Del Rio Chamber of Commerce understands and appreciates
the impact tournament fishing has on the local economy, and we're making
every effort to ensure Lake Amistad and the city of Del Rio are as fisherman-friendly
as possible. Lake Amistad has been named the #1 Bass fishing lake in the
World. We also have a National Park service staff that's dedicated to making
the tournament fisherman's experience the very best possible. Recent improvements
to Amistad National Recreation Area (ANRA) weigh-in facilities allow tournaments
of all sizes to quickly and successfully weigh and release fish in all
kinds of weather conditions. Preservation of our precious fishing resource
is the top priority. This facility is second-to-none in the state!
The primary weigh-in facility located in the Lake Amistad
Marina store parking lot has a covered kiosk complete with a first-class
live-release chute. Fish can be weighed and immediately released just
steps away in the enclosed PVC pipe which is fed by a high-pressure water
source. The Park Service also has an oxygenated recovery tank available
next to the chute which can be used to revitalize stressed fish before
they're released. (Arrangements must be made with the Park Service to
set up the oxygen system prior to the weigh-in.)
